Atlas Excavation is a family owned and operated company with a reputation for success with a foundation built over a decade by the Owner, Ron Bailey who learned everything he knew from his dad who has over 40 years of industry experience. Ron always had a fascination and desire from a very young age to learn all he could about heavy equipment, how to operate them and the rest is history!

He worked side by side with his dad learning all aspects of this industry from a truly unique perspective. He started out from the bottom up learning all aspects of this industry from boots on the ground in the field starting out as a pipelayer in the hole and with hard work and determination within a short few years became a heavy equipment operator and then a Foreman managing several crews in the field for a large Utility Contractor in Raleigh that specializes in very complex projects throughout central NC.

He has now taken that fundamental knowledge and transitioned it into his own underground utility company in the last 4 years from the ground up literally bootstrapping Atlas on his own with a handful of employees starting out more on the residential side of the industry that has now expanded into the commercial side. Now he has 3 active crews in the field with 23 full-time employees that support his vision and understand and appreciate his passion for this industry.
